Age UK Northumberland MCST Dementia Social Groups

Live well with dementia social groups are for people who are living with mild to moderate dementia. The groups offer fun and engaging activities and social workshops designed to improve memory, cognitive function and mood in a safe, supportive, friendly and relaxed environment. Currently we have groups in Ashington, Morpeth, Cramlington, Ponteland and Alnwick.

The two-hour sessions are designed to create conversation and engage with members in a fun, supportive and relaxed environment.  Themes include 'My Life History' and 'Household Treasures' as well as team quizzes, music, games, crafts and the opportunity to build friendships and enjoy peer support.

During the sessions or at any other time, we offer access to our free support services including: information, advice, welfare benefits check and applications, adviocacy, befriending, health and wellbeing and bereavement support - just ask our facilitator.

The group activities have been proven to help improve cognition and quality of life for people living with mild to moderate dementia.
